Fairfax, VA, October 10, 2009 -- Gal Borenstein, author of What Really Counts for CEOs and founder/CEO of the Borenstein Group, recently shared some of his marketing insight with Washington Technology.

In the article "Companies Rewrite Marketing Strategies for Tough Times," Mr. Borenstein explains the contrast between traditional business-to-government marketing and today's survival tactics. "If you say 'we are a solutions provider,' you essentially describe yourself as a fish in the ocean," he notes in the article. "Unless you understand and define your unique value proposition, your chances of success in government marketing are dramatically reduced."

imPACTS™ and The Borenstein Group Win Multiple-Award DHS PACTS Contracts

Arlington, VA, September 24, 2009 -- The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) awarded two IDIQ contracts with a potential period of performance of up to five years each to imPACTS LLC, a national provider of high-quality government services. As part of the imPACTS team, The Borenstein Group-a D.C.—based provider of strategic marketing communications services to the private and public sectors—will be an integral part of efforts to support the DHS mission. These contracts enable imPACTS to compete for work in a broad range of service and solution areas, supporting DHS offices around the country and globally. Program Management, Administrative, Clerical, and Technical Services (PACTS), a multiple-award contract with a $1.5 billion ceiling, is set-aside for Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB) and provides a vehicle to procure program management, administrative, clerical, and technical services for DHS. The two contracts awarded to imPACTS are in the following PACTS Functional Categories (FC): FC 3 for Clerical Services and FC 4 for Technical Services.

In order to provide the best possible level of service to DHS, imPACTS was formed as an SDVOSB joint-venture, backed by an exclusive team of businesses selected for their DHS experience, relevant technology skills, and proven track records of quality performance. The imPACTS team's collective experience demonstrates an acute ability to deliver high-quality services and solutions.

While vastly different, both of imPACTS' Functional Categories will support multiple skill positions, from entry level staff to senior management (junior analysts to senior subject matter experts). The FC 3 (Clerical) contract scope includes general office support and secretarial duties, to include document drafting and word processing, phone messaging, and mail services. These services are often procured to support field office work, call centers, and growing internal departments.

The FC 4 (Technical) contract scope supports the physical laws and principles of engineering, which may involve any of the following activities: provision of advice, preparation of feasibility studies, preparation of preliminary and final plans and designs, provision of technical services during the construction or installation phase, inspection and evaluation of engineering projects and related services to support new or existing projects, and exploration of new technology that further secures the country.

The Borenstein Group will provide marketing and communications support to the imPACTS team in FC 3 (Clerical), FC 4 (Technical), or both Functional Categories.

"Success in a DHS-imPACTS partnership means that things must get done in a timely, cost-effective, and professional manner," said Rick Davis, imPACTS Contract Program Manager. "We view this relationship as a partnership with open communications, accurate and technically viable bids, well-stated requirements, wise shepherding of taxpayer dollars, and fair return to private-sector partners."

imPACTS™ LLC, an Arlington, VA-based joint venture (JV), was created to provide quality professional services to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) under the PACTS contract.www.impactsllc.com

Utilizing New Media is Key in Successful Federal Procurements

The Borenstein Group and LSI, Inc. Release Position Paper on the New Communications Formula for Companies Seeking to Win Government Contracts

Fairfax, VA, April 21, 2009 -- The Borenstein Group and LSI, Inc. Release Position Paper on the New Communications Formula for Companies Seeking to Win Government Contracts
What does it take to successfully compete for and obtain a government contract in today's market? Contrary to popular belief, businesses no longer have to be inside the Washington beltway or huge conglomerates to successfully attract and win government business. The changing communications landscape has leveled the playing field allowing companies of all sizes to effectively position their products and services in the government marketplace.

A new position paper released today by Gal S. Borenstein and Christopher B. Coyle, two veteran business-to-government marketing executives, discusses the "new rules" of engagement and addresses what innovative marketing, communications and advertising strategies can help companies looking to increase their effectiveness in winning government business. "The New Rules of Winning in The Public Sector: Strategic Procurement Positioning" examines the unique, new challenges now facing companies in a rapidly changing world of procurement rules and marketing survival. The authors suggest communication strategies that can produce scalable results for the largest contractors to new market entrants.

"The old ways of winning are not over, they are just changing," says co-author and Vice President, of LSI, Inc. Christopher B. Coyle. "We are not suggesting companies throw out their tried and true solutions. Rather, we are encouraging companies to refocus their resources and devote time to honing their win strategy and competitive positioning to build a comprehensive 'procurement campaign.' This means leveraging all the new channels of communication to showcase their capabilities in more interactive, real-time forums that engage government decision makers long before the request for proposal is drafted."

Borenstein and Coyle identify three challenges that companies seeking to successfully market to the government must address in order to win. First, a company must take the time and devote the resources to find out how they are perceived (if at all) in their targeted federal sector. Second, companies need to develop strategic messaging and more importantly, relevant content that can be deployed across various digital media outlets (to include social networks, twitter, and blogs) as well as via traditional outreach methods (media relations, advertising and printed collateral) to demonstrate its unique value proposition. Finally, companies must devote time to developing a brand that translates well online as well as offline and reflects the true core values of a company, its products and/or its services. The authors point out that such integrated campaigns provide a focus, framework and theme for the entire business development campaign.

"Too many companies are resting on their laurels when it comes to how they go after and respond to government proposals," says co-author and CEO Gal S. Borenstein, of The Borenstein Group, an integrated marketing and communications firm that specializes in business-to-government campaigns. "Over the last 20 months, we have seen an increase in companies' use of digital strategies to include social media, UX Web sites, interactive demonstrations as well as the traditional relationship tactics and thought leadership activities to attract and demonstrate their unique value proposition to a government agency. Successful companies are adapting their entire communications strategy including adjusting marketing, public relations and advertising activities to ensure that they engage government stakeholders before and throughout the entire proposal process."

Gal Borenstein Addresses How Financial Service Marketers Can Re-Establish Trust with Small Businesses in DMNews

Fairfax, VA, February 11, 2009 -- Gal Borenstein, Founder and CEO of The Borenstein Group, is featured in the latest issue of DMNews addressing how financial service marketers are rising to the challenge of marketing financial products and services to small business owners in a recession.

"Secure Small Biz Trust," addresses the skepticism and frustration that small business owners now feel towards the financial industry. The anger is derived from what Borenstein calls "the era of broken promises." In the article, he tells fellow marketers that in order to re-establish trust they need to be understanding of the small business owner's mindset of wanting safe choices rather than the best choices.

"When a brand openly violates and makes a customer or consumer feels victimized, the road back is not easy," says Gal Borenstein. "A lifetime of brand loyalty and favoritism can be undone in seconds. Financial marketers must remember and return to basic customer service principles and keep key external stakeholders informed of what you are doing. Transparency is key in rebuilding trust."

One way he and other article contributors agree that trust and safety can be communicated is through real-time communication and use of third-party credibility in marketing. "More than ever," he says in DMNews, "marketers need to make sure crisis communications and changes in policy are properly being communicated."

The complete article can be found here. Mr. Borenstein has also discussed the topic of marketing in the recession on CNN and Fox Business News.

Founder and CEO Discusses Marketing in a Recession

Fairfax, VA, January 06, 2009 -- Gal Borenstein, Founder and CEO of The Borenstein Group, appeared on CNN and FOX Business News to discuss recession marketing strategies and marketing trends for 2009.

"This year will be the year of rebuilding customer brand loyalty and service," says Borenstein. "Having the biggest discounts will not ensure that consumers stay loyal to a brand. What is important is developing a sound marketing and communications strategy that allows companies to listen, react and engage with consumers across multiple communication platforms. Brands must gauge and engage consumers to stay successful."

Borenstein emphasizes that long-term success in marketing will be accomplished by companies going back to basics and establishing strong customer service and relationship programs. "Customer service is not just a function of helping a client when something is wrong," says Borenstein. "Every employee should be trained in customer service and companies need to reinforce the idea that every employee is a brand ambassador. Strong customer relations and interactions will ensure repeat customers."

DM News Features Borenstein Group in Its Vertical Section: Marketing to Government

Fairfax, VA, July 14, 2008 -- The Borenstein Group, a leading business-to-government (B2G) strategic marketing communications firm, announced today it will presently be featured in the latest issue of DMNews.

The article "Market to Uncle Sam" features CEO and chief strategist Gal Borenstein, an industry veteran who's marketed to, and for, the government over the past 15 years. "If you're a Fortune 1,000 company, and you don't have a robust business-to-government channel, you're essentially leaving millions of dollars on the table for competitors," Borenstein tells fellow marketers. He also strongly advocates registration with the General Services Administration (GSA). "Individual government agencies have created their own contracting vehicles. But still, if you don't have a GSA schedule, you'll have a much harder time proving your viability."

Additionally, the article lauds the success of The Borenstein Group's integrated marketing campaign for ADT Federal Systems' SecTech '08 conference. In collaboration with ADT, Borenstein developed an effective multimedia campaign -- incorporating web, print and radio advertising -- aimed at increasing event attendance among key government officials. As a result of the campaign, government attendance more than doubled from the previous year.

The Borenstein Group Provides Pro Bono Public Relations Services to Kham Aid Foundation

Efforts Drive Momentum to Overall Fundraising Efforts

Fairfax, VA, October 23, 2006 -- The Borenstein Group, a leading Fairfax County-based, integrated branding, marketing communications, advertising, and public relations agency, today announced that the agency's pro bono public relations services added to the overall fund raising efforts to the Kham Aid Foundation who sponsored a bike ride called "Ride for Green" on July 30, 2006 through Tibet in order to raise funds to build greenhouses for children throughout the region.

Six cyclists embarked on a 15-day, 800 kilometer journey across the rugged Tibetan plateau. They rode for a cause: better nutrition for Tibet's children. Funds raised by the ride will build greenhouses for a minimum of five primary schools with a combined enrollment of at least fourteen hundred children.

Since the climate of Tibet is too cold to permit growing of most vegetables in the open air, the greenhouses will help nourish an entire generation of Tibetan children for at least 10 years. Tibetan children will be able to eat far more nutritious food than the barley and butter-tea they customarily consume.

Construction and management of the school greenhouses will be overseen by Kham Aid Foundation, an American charity that has been operating greenhouse projects in Tibet since 2003. Kham Aid greenhouses currently supply vegetables to over 600 students daily. The schools that will benefit from the Ride will be selected on the basis of need, suitability of their land, and farming experience of their teachers. It's estimated that each new greenhouse during its ten-year lifetime will provide food throughout the school year to students at a cost of only $4.40 per child per year. The ride raised in excess of $50,000.

"We are extremely honored to have the support of The Borenstein Group and its client CR Software and Warren Dedrick for "Ride for Green" bike ride," said Pamela Logan, founder of Kham Aid Foundation. "The Borenstein Group's pro bono public relations services are enormously appreciated both for their own sake and for the momentum they added to our overall fundraising efforts."

Gal Borenstein, CEO & Chief Strategist of The Borenstein Group, stated: "We are happy to provide our public relations services to this worthy cause. We are proud that our efforts will help feed and educate hundreds of children in the Kham region for many years to come."

Donations are welcome for the greenhouse program at any time. For more information, contact the Kham Aid Foundation, khamaid@khamaid.org, or go to www.khamaid.org.

The Borenstein Group Wins Best eHealthcare Interactive Website for Design of www.rxwise.com for Bioinformatics Leader, Iatrogen, LLC

Fairfax, VA, November 17, 2005 -- The Borenstein Group, a leading integrated technology branding and public relations firm, today announced it has won a platinum medal for best interactive website created for Iatrogen, LLC, a bioinformatics leader, in the category of consumer healthcare product sales for the 2005 eHealthcare Leadership Awards program.

The site was created for the company's first consumer-friendly, portable medication safety checking system, RxWise.

RxWise evaluates the potential risks for an adverse drug reaction (ADR) by analyzing a consumer's self-reported (or insurance claims-based) medical history and checking it against the medications he or she is taking. RxWise is contained on a portable USB Flash Drive, or accessible through the Internet. By using sophisticated risk-assessment software, RxWise provides important, personalized information about medications that may cause an ADR--the fourth leading cause of death in the United States.

The product covers a broad range of prescription, herbal, and over-the-counter (OTC) drugs. The RxWise analysis can be more effective than limited drug interaction analysis alone because it evaluates the contribution of an individual's medical conditions together with any OTC/herbal medicines the consumer is using to complete the ADR risk assessment. RxWise also provides the consumer with a set of disease management advisories based on current national clinical practice guidelines.

Approximately 1,200 entries were received from a wide range of healthcare organizations. The judging criteria in the Best Interactive Site category focused on the site's interactive features and technologies: for example, providing health information, health evaluations; establishing ongoing relationships via personal web pages, e-newsletters, email alerts; facilitating community groups.

Winners of platinum, gold, silver, and distinction awards represented 16 industry classifications, from hospitals and health systems to pharmaceutical firms and online health companies.

Gal Borenstein, CEO & Chief Strategist of The Borenstein Group, said, "We are very pleased to have been recognized and awarded a platinum medal in the category of best interactive website."

"This win resulted because of the strong and valued partnership we share with Iatrogen, LLC, and its mission to raise awareness among consumers, employers, and health plan managers that Adverse Drug Reactions are a pervasive and dangerous problem."

M. Lee Morse, President and Founder of Iatrogen, said: "The intelligent and innovative thinking approach that The Borenstein Group used to introduce a ground-breaking solution to the market is a huge part of this win. We look forward to our continued work with The Borenstein Group to convey the message about medication safety and adverse drug reactions--issues that are of mounting importance to consumers and could pose significant constraints to their healthcare and quality of life."

RxWise was developed by one of the United States' leading ADR avoidance teams. More than 20 million patients have been protected by this team's technologies. The design team was a past winner of the Computerworld Smithsonian Award for best IT in Medicine for its ADR avoidance system. The RxWise team has built and operated ADR avoidance/detection systems for over a dozen U.S. state health systems, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the Department of Defense, the Veterans Benefits Administration, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and large employer groups including General Motors, Ford Motor Company, Chrysler, Goodyear and the Boeing Company.

The Borenstein Group Unveils National Marketing Service
Enabling Technology CEOs to Optimize
their Marketing Return on Investment (MROI)

ActionalizeSM will Enable Technology Companies to Demystify their Marketing ROI on Customer Acquisitions and Revenue Retentions through Proactive Research Tools Year-Round

Fairfax, VA, January 11, 2005 -- Today, The Borenstein Group (Borenstein) and its partner, Crestwood Associates (Crestwood), proudly unveiled Actionalize, innovative services targeted to technology companies.

Actionalize, the new suite of marketing services, was specifically designed to help executive decision makers in technology companies more effectively manage and optimize their strategies and programs across the entire revenue generation lifecycle. Borenstein and Crestwood will provide CEOs with the strategic insights required to develop and manage groundbreaking marketing, advertising, promotional, and PR programs. Central to the Actionalize program is the strong link to ROI in every program and evaluation. This is further supported by custom-built executive dashboards to help monitor both new customer acquisition and customer retention results. In a clear break from the traditional ad agency model, The Borenstein Group will offer this ROI-based program as a built-in module of its marketing and public relations services.

A survey, conducted in November 2004 by Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Council, revealed the increasing disconnect between marketing and advertising investments and their grasp of tangible MROI (Marketing Return on Investment). Gal Borenstein, CEO & Chief Strategist of The Borenstein Group, stated, "With tighter budgets and augmented marketing channels, CEOs feel an even stronger need to ensure that their dollars are working hard." Actionalize will offer CEOs the tangible ability to benchmark, deploy, measure, and optimize their marketing programs the very same way they would any strategic plan. Edgar Kully, Managing Principal of Crestwood Associates added, "There are higher demands than ever on marketers today to employ bold marketing, yet without disciplined knowledge and feedback, these programs could be riskier than ever."

The new service offering was conceived by The Borenstein Group, a national technology marketing, advertising, branding, and public relations agency headquartered in Northern Virginia, and its strategic partner, Crestwood Associates, a Seattle-based market research and strategy firm. The two firms have joined forces to create this national service offering in response to the dire need for a new advertising agency service model that promotes accountability and results-driven thinking in creative, branding, and public relations services. Gal Borenstein stated, "In our experience, technology executives are having a hard time justifying marketing program results. By infusing strategic benchmarks and monitoring across the lifecycle of marketing programs, regardless of the technology company's size, we are offering companies the opportunity to take the mystery out of marketing and make their creativity a science." Borenstein added, "The Borenstein Group intends to take a national leadership role in reshaping the attitude of our industry when it comes to working with technology companies. Our message is simple: we are entrusted to leverage your best strategic assets. By infusing our ROI measurement model, you won't blow your entire marketing budget on meaningless marketing programs. "

The Borenstein Group intends to focus its efforts on marketing to managers of technology companies in the specialty areas of software, information technology, telecommunications, systems integration, and biotechnology.

Leros hired The Borenstein Group to develop and launch an integrated branding system that would allow business executives to quickly grasp the business benefits of this innovative solution without getting bogged down in techno-jargon and network diagrams.

The Borenstein Group responded by creating a memorable brand metaphor that articulates how growing companies without Fortune 500 technology power are like penguins stranded on a desolate island, waiting for their ship to come in, watching progress pass them by. Positioning Leros as the champion of growing business (The enabler), the call for action is clear: Your ship has arrived. Come onboard LerosNet. Destination: success.

Dean Xenos, President of Leros Technologies, stated: "The Borenstein Group took on the largest creative challenge Leros ever embarked on: Launching and positioning our winning Enterprise Resource Planning/Telecom Service Platform to the marketplace. Borenstein's command of technology marketing and advertising empowered us to articulate an on-target message that is destined to be well received by decision makers on levels. They helped me make Leros' marketing a science. "

Washington Business Journal Ranks
The Borenstein Group 21st Largest Ad Agency for 2004

Fairfax, VA, March 29, 2004 -- The Borenstein Group, Washington's proven choice for B2B marketing communications and branding, today announced that Washington Business Journal, Washington's premier business weekly, has published in its February 2004 issue that The Borenstein Group is now one of the Top 21 Advertising Agencies in the Washington Metropolitan Area. The Borenstein Group moved up in ranking from the 25th spot to the 21st spot during FY 2003.

Gal Borenstein, company president and founder, commented, "It is an honor to be recognized as one of the area's up-and-coming leaders. It's been a very tough year for many Washington-area advertising and marketing communication agencies. Since the technology bubble burst, over 10 ad agencies that had primarily focused on high tech closed their doors forever. The Borenstein Group has weathered the storm and we are proud of it. In fact, just this year, The Borenstein Group added seven new high-technology, financial services, and legal clients to its business-to-business base with combined capitalized billings of $1 million."
