Internship Positions

The Borenstein Group is looking for industry-savvy, energetic and motivated interns to join its team for the spring, summer or fall semesters. This high responsibility, rewarding internship will provide students with an opportunity to apply their knowledge to achieve results for business-to-business and business-to-government clients.

The Borenstein Group's internship program offers the opportunity for interactive learning. The program will expose the intern to the types of experiences that will make them a top contender in one of the most competitive job markets that college graduates have ever faced. The following for credit internships are available for the upcoming semesters:


Marketing Intern

This internship offers the opportunity for academic credit. The position will provide strong working insights into how the actual business of marketing and advertising transpires. By working closely with the account management/client services team, the intern will help with tasks related to developing and executing on campaigns for a variety of clients across a wide range of industries. The intern will be exposed to agency culture and as a result will gain an understanding of project management and standard account duties which are crucial to the success of any agency organization.

Qualifications:
  • Strong oral and written communication skills (please provide at least 2 writing samples, one demonstrating an ability to think strategically from a creative or business problem solving perspective).
  • Candidates must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs. A strong proficiency in MS PowerPoint is highly desirable, but not mandatory.
  • Candidates should have working knowledge of new media and web 2.0.
  • Candidates must be able to adapt quickly to a fast-paced environment, multi-task, be highly organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Must be confident and comfortable speaking to and communicating with clients.
  • Candidates must be able to work independently on projects.
  • Should have a strong sense of personal accountability and be willing to show leadership in terms of required tasks.
  • Candidates should be a university junior or senior, currently pursuing a BBA or degree in communications/marketing or a related field.
Internship responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
  • Competitive and Industry Research
  • Project plan/timeline development and maintenance
  • Assistance with account finance record keeping
  • Assistance writing internal and client facing briefs
  • Attend industry events as an ambassador of the company

Public Relations Intern

Candidates interested in this for credit internship should be junior or senior undergraduate students or graduate school students pursuing a degree in communications, public relations, journalism, international affairs, marketing, or something similar. The department is looking for a well-rounded and intelligent public relations professional with a specific knowledge in digital (web 2.0) strategy and tactics, as well as traditional public relations.

The ideal candidate will be able to:
  • Demonstrate ability to think strategically and tactically
  • Contribute to the strategy and implementation of web 2.0 solutions
  • Conduct competitive research and provide analysis (i.e. SWOT analysis, market and media recall surveys, etc.)
  • Brainstorm and implement digital PR strategies for the agency and clients
  • Contribute to weekly PR department meetings
  • Write and deliver compelling pitches to the media and bloggers
  • Conduct communication/media audits as necessary
  • Write and edit press releases, memos, byline articles, executive bios, etc.
  • Be comfortable with public speaking/presenting ideas to peers and clients
  • Be able to work independently and manage assigned projects

Design/Development Intern

Candidates interested in this for credit internship should be junior or senior college students pursuing a degree in graphic design. This intern would work as part of a creative team (copywriters, designers, developers) whose primary challenge is synthesizing unified and consistent messaging across multiple media channels. They would/could work on projects ranging from Print Design (collateral, logos, advertisements) to Web Design/Development (webpage design, flash, HTML, CSS) to Multimedia (flash, video, audio, animation).

Base skills should include:
  • InDesign
  • Photoshop
  • Illustrator
  • DreamWeaver
  • Flash (basic Actionscript and XML knowledge)
  • HTML / CSS

Bonus Skills:
  • Advanced Acrobat
  • Final Cut & Motion

This intern will work as part of a creative team (copywriters, designers, developers) whose primary challenge is synthesizing unified and consistent messaging across multiple media channels. They will also work on projects ranging from Print Collateral to Web Content and Multimedia Presentations.

Base Skill set should include:
  • Mastery of English writing
  • Ability to research, comprehend, and synthesize mildly to extremely technical information
